A late-night call, mid-trial: “please don't let them pay you off.” ⚠︎Jackson called Mesereau late one night during the trial, crying. His account is docked below. Downgraded 2026-07-11: the same round-5 search located and read a real, full Mesereau interview (Pez Jax, 2012/2021) that does not contain this exchange, though it does contain thematically adjacent material — Mesereau's closing advice that Jackson “be more careful of who you trust.” This may still be a real exchange from a different, unlocated interview, or a private account relayed secondhand — currently unconfirmed against any source in hand. It remains emotionally raw material regardless of sourcing status — a client in visible distress — presented factually and without embellishment, the same care applied to similar material on ⌜Cascio's page.

Back in the estate's corner, decades later. ■Multiple 2025–2026 profiles describe Mesereau as currently serving as Special Counsel to ⌜John Branca, Trustee of the Estate of Michael Jackson — tying him directly into the estate's current legal apparatus, including the active ⌜Frank Cascio litigation. He also received “Criminal Defense Trial Lawyer of the Year” recognition (National Trial Lawyers) — a real award, but dated to the 2016 Summit, not 2025 — and remains active, giving interviews as recently as May 2026. Whether this role predates or postdates the trial-era research on this page is unverified — worth confirming before treating it as brand-new.
